Here Comes Santa Claus
Here comes Santa Claus
Here comes Santa Claus
Right down Santa Claus Lane
Vixen and Blitzen and all his reindeer
Pullin’ on the reins
Bells are ringin’, children singin’
All is merry and bright
So hang your stockings and say your prayers
‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight
Here comes Santa Claus
Here comes Santa Claus
Right down Santa Claus Lane
He’s got a bag that’s filled with toys
For boys and girls again
Hear those sleigh bells jingle jangle
Oh, what a beautiful sight
So jump in bed, and cover your head
‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight
Here comes Santa Claus
Here comes Santa Claus
Right down Santa Claus Lane
He doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor
He loves you just the same
Santa Claus knows we’re all God’s children
That makes everything right
So fill your hearts with Christmas cheer
‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight
Here comes Santa Claus
Here comes Santa Claus
Right down Santa Claus Lane
He’ll come around when chimes ring out
That it’s Christmas morn’ again
Peace on earth will come to all
If we just follow the light
So let’s give thanks to the Lord above
‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight
Here comes Santa Claus
Here comes Santa Claus
Right down Santa Claus Lane
Vixen and Blitzen and all his reindeer
Pullin’ on the reins
Bells are ringin’, children singin’
All is merry and bright
Hang your stockings and say your prayers
‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight
Listen to the song

About the carol Here Comes Santa Claus
“Here Comes Santa Claus (Right Down Santa Claus Lane)” was co-written by Gene Autry and Oakley Haldeman and first became a hit for Autry in 1947. The idea came to Autry while he was riding in Hollywood’s annual Christmas parade in 1946. Hearing children shout that Santa Claus was coming inspired him to develop the song, which Haldeman helped turn into a finished composition. Gene Autry
The song celebrates Santa’s arrival and the excitement surrounding Christmas Eve. It describes children waiting for Santa, presents and the joyful anticipation of the holiday. The lyrics also emphasize kindness and the idea that Santa brings happiness to children. Its straightforward story and repeated title make it particularly easy to sing, helping it become familiar to generations of listeners.
Gene Autry’s original recording helped make the song a lasting Christmas favorite. Its association with the Hollywood Christmas parade is part of its history, while its cheerful depiction of Santa gives it an immediate connection to Christmas traditions. Unlike religious carols centered on the Nativity, “Here Comes Santa Claus” belongs to the popular, secular side of Christmas music, focusing on children’s excitement, gifts and the arrival of Santa.
